THE RELENTLESS rain that had been drenching the fields of Ratheniska, County Laois, during the National Ploughing Championships finally subsided this Tuesday afternoon, giving way to an atmosphere of revelry.
After a soggy start, dozens of attendees found themselves dancing as the showers cleared, shedding their raincoats, and celebrating the first day down.
Muddy boots, and an even muddier stage, did not slow the fun as visitors jived and waltzed to the live entertainment.
Stay tuned for more coverage of all the week's festivities.
