Freshtoday, one of Ireland’s leading school meal providers, has welcomed the Government’s announcement of new funding for hot school meals – a move set to expand access to nutritious lunches for students across the country.
The announcement by Minister for Education Helen McEntee will see additional schools added to the Government’s Hot School Meals Programme, supporting better educational outcomes and child wellbeing nationwide.
Freshtoday currently delivers hot school meals to 63 schools across Donegal, including Arranmore Island, through its two Donegal-based food facilities.
The company now prepares and delivers over 400,000 meals each week nationally, making it one of the largest providers of school meals in the country.
“We’re incredibly proud to support 63 schools in Donegal, including our most remote location on Arranmore Island,” said Gareth Price, Sales Manager at Freshtoday. “These meals are about more than food – they bring warmth, energy, and focus into classrooms every day.”
Freshtoday is proud to meet and exceed nutritional standards in every meal we serve. We are fully supportive of the new emphasis on nutritional quality outlined in the Government’s recent announcement and welcome this initiative as a positive step toward prioritizing student wellbeing nationwide.
“As this new round of government funding rolls out, we’re ready to expand further,” added Richie Nangle, Managing Director of Freshtoday. “Every child in Donegal deserves a warm, healthy meal at school – and we’re here to make that happen.”
