‘It’s class’ - Villa fan Adrian Shields’ delight at well-wishes from John McGinn

Anyone who wanders around Letterkenny has more than likely come across Adrian Shields - usually, the conversation with Adrian is of Aston Villa or St Eunan’s GAA Club, for whom he does massive work in selling lottery tickets.

This week, Adrian is in hospital in Dublin recovering from an operation and was more than surprised when he was shown a video of Aston Villa club captain John McGinn, who is currently in Athens, Greece, giving him a well-appreciated ‘get well soon.’

“It’s class,” Adrian said having watched the video from the Scottish international.

“Hi Adrian, it’s John McGinn here, just a quick video,” Aston Villa midfielder McGinn said. “You’ll be wondering where I am. I’m in Athens down a side street because I forgot to do your video earlier today! I was made aware you had a fall and had a bit of surgery and had the physio run on and the doctor run on with the magic sponge and hopefully you’re on the mend soon

“I hear you’re a big Villa fan so on behalf of me and all the Villa boys I hope you get well soon and it’s not long before you’re back at Villa Park. Adrian, stick in and stay strong.”

Closer to home, St Eunan’s GAA club passed on their best wishes and said it won't be long until their diligent clubman back on the streets of Letterkenny.

“St Eunan's legend Adrian Shields is doing well after his operation in Dublin,” they posted. “We have spoken to his family and Adrian was talking after his operation which is great news. Wishing Adrian a speedy recovery and no doubt we'll see him in O'Donnell Park, Mac's Deli and on the Main Street shortly.”
