Watch: Brighdín Carr's 'White Noise' - runner-up in the International Song of the Year

'I'm absolutely thrilled and delighted to be recognised on the world stage for such an emotional yet simple song and I dedicate the song to the hardworking staff and amazing children in An Chrannóg, Lurgybrack,' Brighdín Carr says

Letterkenny's Brighdín Carr has expressed her delight following the news that her song 'White Noise' has been named as runner-up in the International Song of the Year 2023.

The Song of the Year receives entries from all over the world and only the top songwriters receive a placement in the songwriting competition.

"I got fabulous news this weekend that my song about autism got runner up in the International Song of the Year," Brighdín said. "It was forwarded to the world event last December by organisers of the United Kingdom songwriting contest after receiving the top award of five stars and placing as finalist in their prestigious event.

"I'm absolutely thrilled and delighted to be recognised on the world stage for such an emotional yet simple song, with a condiment from the multi-talented Yvonne Fahy, Galway and artwork by Eoghan Bonner 16, Arranmore Island, and Dean Murray, 11, Lurgybrack NS Letterkenny. I dedicate the song to the hardworking staff and amazing children in An Chrannóg, Lurgybrack.

"The fantastic artist and actor Eoghan Bonner features in this single, White Noise, to celebrate World Autism Week. A most talented illustrator, Eoghan is an inspiration to all his fans as he follows his dreams and shows young people how they can be anything they want to be. You can check out Eoghan's amazing work here.

"White Noise was written by myself, Brí Carr Music, over two years ago, but it took the imagination of Eoghan as well as help from my pals, Yvonne Fahy and Terry McGinty to set it free. If your school wants to perform it as this song means the world to me. Thanks to Donegal Education Centre for supporting this initiative, looking forward to hearing many versions of White Noise sung by the children of Donegal schools.

"Thank you Eoghan, thank you Yvonne and huge thanks to Ms Browne, Ms Boyle and the Crannóg, Lurgybrack for continuously inspiring us."
