Whilst some towns and villages around the county were enjoying their first St Patrick's Day in four years as a consequence of the pandemic, Letterkenny did have one in 2022.
However, the feeling in the Cathedral Town today was one of normality as huge crowds gathered for the parade, where was led out by Colour Party consisting of Members of the Reserve Defence Forces, 8th Infantry Battalion, C&E Company, followed by the Donegal Piper Christy Murray, often seen at Donegal GAA matches.
The parade, which lasted for almost an hour and brought a hive of noise and colour, with the rain even staying off, had the Fire Service, floats from sporting groups, dance schools, cricket club, schools, local community groups, businesses, Comhaltas, Ukulele Band and much more.
The warm-up acts came courtesy of Folk’n About playing on the street at Blakes Bar and Callum Keaveney, who did his things outside McGettigan’s Hotel. And the main man, St Patrick, even made an appearance!
