With a break in the weather and heavy rain, the Bridge in Dunfanaghy was submerged with water ahead of the clash between Downings and Naomh Muire

St Michael's GAA club pulled out all the stops to enure this evening's promotion-relegation play-off went ahead.

With a break in the weather and heavy rain, the Bridge in Dunfanaghy was submerged with water ahead of the clash between Downings and Naomh Muire. However, thanks to a bit of graft the pitch was cleared and the match could go ahead.

"Thanks to the club members who worked hard today to make our pitch playable for the relagation match and a special thanks to William Sheridan for his assistance with the pumps well done to all," St Michael's posted.

Naomh Muire ran out winners on a 2-14 to 1-15 scoreline to secure a place in Division 1 of the All-County Football League next season.
