Relegated and with just one point on the board, the Oak Leaf manager says their final regulation outing against Armagh stands for little or nothing

Paddy Tally says Derry’s complete attention has to now be trained on Donegal and the Ulster Championship after the Oak Leafers were relegated from Division 1 at the weekend.

Derry, the defending NFL top-flight champions, went down after their 2-19 to 1-17 defeat to Mayo.

And with just one point on the board, the manager says their final regulation outing against Armagh stands for little or nothing.

"It is all about the Donegal game now,” he explained.  “Championship is coming up in three weeks and you haven't an awful lot of time to get ready for that.

"The Armagh game, obviously we'll give our best and it's an opportunity for some boys to play, but our focus has to turn towards the Championship.

"It's disappointing, I think it's been a tough league for the players with the way it's worked out.

"We've had to work with a skeletal panel at times, blood a few players and then the new rules, but today was the day we really wanted to finish off with a win against Mayo but we never got to the pitch of the game until it was too late."
