No-one likes to see an animal in distress, but sometimes well-intended intervention can do more harm than good.
This is particularly true when it comes to seals. The good news is that Seal Rescue Ireland (SRI) is offering free training to ensure that people know when a seal needs help, and how to best deliver that assistance.
Free, in-person training is taking place in Sligo and Donegal during the weekend of May 27 and 28.
This is a fantastic opportunity to become a fully qualified Seal Rescuer with no experience necessary.
A spokesperson said: "Learn about seals in the wild, how to monitor and assess if a seal needs help, and how to lift and transport seals to our care! Join our network of Seal Rescue Heroes!"
Spots are filling fast. Anyone who wishes to register or to find out more can do so at https://www.sealrescueireland.org/ or by emailing rescue@sealrescueireland.org
Training times are:
Strandhill, Sligo on Saturday, May 27 from 2pm to 5pm
Letterkenny on Sunday, May 28 from 10am to 1pm.
