Storm Amy is expected to hit Ireland on Friday
Met Éireann has issued an Orange Wind Warning for County Donegal, with Storm Amy expected to bring dangerous conditions on Friday, October 3, between 2pm and 10pm.
The storm will bring near gale to gale force southwest to west winds, with very strong and gusty conditions likely throughout the county.
Forecasters warn that the storm may lead to fallen trees, damage to power lines with possible outages, very difficult travelling conditions on roads, and wave overtopping along coastal areas.
Donegal County Council’s Severe Weather Assessment Team is advising motorists to take extra care, particularly on exposed routes, and for coastal communities to remain alert to the risk of overtopping waves.
Residents are urged to secure outdoor items, avoid unnecessary journeys during the peak of the storm, and to report fallen trees or other hazards to the local authority. Storm Amy will also affect Galway, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo
