There will be a stormy conclusion to 2024 in Donegal, with yellow weather warnings for both rain and wind.
In an alert message from Met Eireann, the warning is in place from Monday at 11am till Tuesday at 11am.
Spells of rain are anticipated to be heavy at times, with possible impacts including localised flooding, difficult travelling conditions and poor visibility.
A wind warning - strong to gale force and gusty southwest winds - was also issued from 12 midnight tonight till 11am tomorrow, New Year’s Eve.
Impacts could include fallen branches and trees, debris, loose objects displaced, difficult travelling conditions and ave overtopping due to onshore winds and high seas, particularly during high tide times.
It will be cloudy today with outbreaks of rain developing, becoming persistent in the north and west and maybe heavy at times in Donegal. Highest temperatures of 9 to 11 degrees in moderate to fresh and gusty southwest winds, strong near coasts.
Turning increasingly windy tonight with rain developing and becoming widespread and heavy in parts and extending eastwards later. Lowest temperatures of 8 to 10 degrees in fresh or strong to near gale and gusty south to southwest winds.
Windy in the morning tomorrow, with widespread rain clearing to showers. Becoming largely dry for the afternoon. Highest temperatures of 10 to 12 degrees in strong to near gale and gusty southwest winds, veering westerly.
