Storm Bert bringing heavy rain and very strong winds to Donegal

Very wet and windy on Saturday  morning due to Storm Bert with heavy rain and possible flooding.

The rain will clear eastwards around lunchtime but showery rain will follow from the west later, turning heavy at times with hail and thunder possible.

Very strong and gusty southerly winds will decrease and become  moderate for a time before increasing strong and gusty again by evening. Highest temperatures of 12 to 14 degrees.

A status yellow warning for snow-ice, rain and wind for Donegal is in place until midday. The warning is for snow transitioning to rain, coupled with strong southeast to south winds bringing Difficult travelling conditions, poor visibility, fallen trees and localised flooding.

Saturday night 

Saturday night will be windy with showery rain, heavy at times with possible spot flooding, followed by clear spells and blustery showers. Lowest temperatures of 5 to 9 degrees in fresh to strong and gusty south to southwest winds.

Sunday

Sunday will be a windy day with sunny spells and scattered heavy showers, with longer spells of rain likely at times. Highest temperatures of 9 to 11 degrees with strong and gusty south to southwest winds with gale or strong gales near coasts.
