Met Éireann has forecast the possibility of hail and thunder for Donegal today, Tuesday, with showers throughout the day.
This morning, rain will spread westwards over Connacht and Ulster. This afternoon, bright spells and scattered heavy showers will follow from the south and east with hail and thunder possible. Highest temperatures of 6 to 10 degrees with moderate east to northeast breezes.
Early tonight, there will be clear spells and scattered showers, with longer spells of rain in the north-west. Later in the night, persistent rain will develop in the south and will move up over much of the country by morning. Lowest temperatures of 1 to 5 degrees with moderate easterly winds becoming south to southeasterly.
On Wednesday morning, rain over the northern half of the country will gradually clear to the north. Sunny spells and showers further south will follow to all areas for the afternoon, some heavy with hail and thunder possible. A cold day with highs of 5 to 8 degrees and moderate to fresh south to southeast winds.
