Kathy O’Connor spearheads the initiative annually on Christmas Day and again at New Year’s from Conwal Hall in Letterkenny.
“Well, that’s us for another year,” she posted. “We had a very successful Annual Christmas Day Dinner for people on their own. We delivered over 150 dinners. Many volunteers showed up to bring a little bit of happiness to those on their own and to deliver a dinner.”
The New Year’s Day deliveries came a week after Christmas, when meals were also taken around the county, as well as a sit-down dinner at the hall.
“Thank you to the Chamber of Commerce for their continuing support over the last 20 years and to the businesses that donated in any way to the event," Kathy added. "Thank you to the Value Centre for their donation of dinner and soup containers and bags. Thank you to Snugborough for the use of their kitchen over the Christmas period.

“Thank you to TCS for their generous donation of €500, to the CI Community Hub and Now Doc for all the gifts and donations they provided. Thank you to Amy McDevitt and her third-grade students, who made lovely Christmas cards to be sent out with dinners. A loving touch.Thank you, Blood Bikes North West for the use of their van. Thank you to each and every one who donated on the GoFundMe page. Your donations make the event possible.
“A heartfelt appreciation to all the ladies who provided a meal on a plate in their area and to all the volunteers who showed up to make the day a success. I'm sorry if I missed anyone. Happy New Year, everyone!”.
