Donegal native Kaneshia McKinney is a part of the coaching staff for the Republic of Ireland Schools team who will travel to Newforge Sports Complex in Belfast tomorrow to take on Northern Ireland in an International Friendly, with kick-off at 1pm.

The Schools select have enjoyed a few friendly matches against WNL U-17 club teams recently, but this will be the first international test for the young scholars.

Head Coach Richard Berkeley (Sancta Maria College, Louisburgh) has named twenty players for this clash as he looks to trim his squad to 18 for the Bob Docherty Cup at the end of the month.

Letterkenny native McKinney, who attended Loreto Letterkenny, is now a PE teacher at Buncrana’s Scoil Mhuire having graduated from Dublin City University where she studied Physical Education, Biology and Agricultural Science.

Whilst on Collins Avenue on Dublin’s northside, McKinney played soccer and GAA, having lined out for St Eunan’s at home. At DCU, her teammates included the likes of Sarah Rowe from Mayo, Aishling Sheridan of Cavan, both of whom play AFL with Collingwood.

A player with Bonagee United, McKinney has been actively involved with the schools’ girl teams in Scoil Mhuire where over the past few years she has been working her way up the coaching ladder.
