Donegal swimmers Anna Hennessy and Eoin Rooney are set to represent Ireland at the 11th World Down Syndrome Swimming Championships which take place next month.

Letterkenny woman Anna and Ballyshannon’s Eoin will fly to Antalya, Turkey at the Muratpasa Municipality Swimming Pool from the 19th to the 26th of March 2024.

Anna and Eoin have been training under the watch of Sinead Donagher at the Finn Valley Leisure Centre during the summer months when they were a part of the Ireland team that took part in the European Swimming Championship in Italy last September.

The pair are both affiliated with Nemo Special Olympics Swim Club and IDSSO. Anna is also a member of Swilly Seals while Eoin is coached by his mum, Sinead.

During their time in Italy, they took part in the 100m freestyle and 50m backstroke events, and no doubt will make a big impact next month in Turkey.
