Former Donegal GAA chairman Fergus McGee.
Former Donegal GAA County Board chairman Fergus McGee has been awarded the Lifetime Service award by Ulster GAA in Belfast on Friday night.
The St Eunan’s clubman held the role of Oifigeach na Gaeilge in Donegal while he also had a stint as Secretary of the Ulster Scór Committee.
He later joined the Ulster Council and was Chair of the Ulster Language Committee.
McGee was county chairman for what could only be described as a tumultuous year for Donegal GAA with the Karl Lacey and the underage Academy debacle, as well as Paddy Carr’s early resignation as senior team manager.
However, was an instrumental figure at bringing Jim McGuinness back as the inter-county senior manager for 2024, however, McGee stood down from the role as chairman last October after only one year in charge.
