Donegal Town Reserves 2-3 Kilmacrennan Celtic Reserves

Donegal Town slipped to a frustrating home defeat as Kilmacrennan Celtic edged a lively contest. The visitors were dominant in the opening half, and a Mark Patterson brace gave them a deserved 2–0 cushion. Town pulled one back on the stroke of half-time when Killian Faulkner’s long pass caused confusion in the Kilmacrennan defence and Jamie McMonagle reacted smartly to finish.

Town improved after the restart, with McMonagle going close with an acrobatic effort and Corey Monaghan testing the keeper from distance. Celtic struck again in the 90th minute to restore their two-goal lead before Noel Gavigan reduced the deficit deep into stoppage time. McMonagle and Ryan Mahon stood out for the hosts, while Patterson and Conor Black impressed for the visitors.

Drumbar F.C. 1-1 Oldtown Celtic

Drumbar and Oldtown shared the spoils in an open and competitive encounter. Drumbar controlled much of the first half but couldn’t convert their chances, and the sides went in level at the break. The second half began cagily before Drumbar broke through on 61 minutes, Eoghan Gallagher’s fine work down the right was rewarded when Vini Breslin headed in his pinpoint cross.

Drumbar continued to push and had opportunities to extend their lead, but missed chances proved costly. Oldtown applied late pressure and were rewarded on 88 minutes when Kevin McGrath scrambled home an equaliser. A draw was a fair outcome after a balanced contest.

Fintown Harps AFC 3-4 Fanad United Reserves

Fanad United edged a dramatic seven-goal contest despite finishing with ten men. Fintown started brightly with early chances for Jamie McMonagle Quinn and Odhran Doherty, but Fanad struck first as a cross from the left found Johnny McAteer arriving at the back post to steer home. Harps responded well and levelled on 25 minutes when Doherty raced onto a long kick and fired low past Ryan Moffitt.

Fanad regained control before half-time, capitalising on defensive errors to lead 3-1 courtesy of Alan McAteer and another opportunistic finish. Fintown began the second half well, but a misplaced pass on 55 minutes allowed Fanad to break, and McAteer completed his brace for 4-1. Harps fought back through a fine long-range strike from Keelan McMonagle and then a stunning free-kick from Jamie McMonagle Quinn, who found the top corner from distance to make it 4-3.

Fanad were reduced to ten men but held on during a frantic finale as Harps pushed hard for an equaliser. Both teams contributed to an excellent match. Referee: Danny Doherty.

Keadue Rovers Reserves 1-1 Arranmore United

A tight and high-quality Rosses derby finished level at Central Park. Arranmore started well with the wind at their backs and took the lead on 15 minutes.

A Glenn O’Donnell free-kick wasn’t dealt with, the ball ricocheting off Caelan Bonner before Alan Stephenson reacted to finish from close range. Keadue grew into the game with Dima Serhieiev, Liam Ferry and Liam Boyle prominent, and they threatened repeatedly from set pieces as half-time approached.

With the breeze behind them after the break, Keadue pressed hard and equalised on 56 minutes when Evan McFadden converted from close range after a scramble following Liam Ferry’s delivery. Boyle soon forced another good save.

The final half hour was played at a terrific pace, with Arranmore lively on the break—sub Paul Early going closest with a shot into the side netting—while Keadue sent a series of dangerous balls into the box. In the end, a draw was a fair result.

Best for Arranmore: Glenn O’Donnell, Peadar Boyle, Phil Boyle, Ben Gaughran.

Best for Keadue: Liam Boyle, Dima Serhieiev, Oisín McDowell, Liam Ferry.

Referee: Seimi Ferry.

Drumoghill F.C. Reserves 5-4 Castlefin Celtic Reserves

Drumoghill claimed a thrilling victory in a nine-goal rollercoaster at The Moss. Matos De Sousa opened the scoring after good play from Dylan O’Brien before Calum McLaughlin doubled the lead. Castlefin rallied and struck three times in quick succession through Kennedy (2) and Mathewson to lead 3–2 at the break.

The second half was end-to-end. McLaughlin levelled with a superb solo effort before Castlefin regained the advantage from the penalty spot—Kennedy completing his hat-trick. Drumoghill equalised from the spot themselves on 80 minutes through Robbie Donnell, and the winner arrived late when Keaton McDaid reacted quickest to a loose ball and finished confidently.

Best for Drumoghill: Oisín Higgins, Calum McLaughlin, Keaton McDaid.

Castlefin: strong team performance.

Referee: Eunan Brolly.

Lagan Harps Reserves 2-2 Milford United Reserves

Lagan and Milford produced an even contest that ended level. With few early chances, Lagan struck first on 27 minutes as Ross Hamlyn dummied a pass for Jack Duncan to run through and score.

Milford responded well and levelled on 52 minutes when Kyle Black volleyed home. Five minutes later Lee Burke pounced on a misplaced short kick-out to fire the visitors ahead.

Kai Brown kept Lagan in it with a fine save from Shay Gibbons before Drew Dowds headed in Glenn Gallagher’s long free-kick for 2–2. Both sides chased a winner, and Milford came closest in the dying moments when Eoin O’Donnell shot narrowly wide.

Glenea United 5-3 St. Catherines

In perfect conditions for football, St Catherine's were the visitors to PCC Falcarragh. The away side were first to settle and took an early lead after 10 minutes when a ball floated into the box was headed in. Glenea equalised shortly after straight from a corner.

Cathal McGeever’s delivery beat everyone and ended up in the back of the net. The goal settled Glenea and in the 22nd minute, Cathal McGeever picked the ball up in his own half and floated a perfectly weighted pass into the path of Blake Mc Garvey. Blake didn’t even have to break stride and only had to guide the ball past the Catherines’ keeper. Glenea got their third just before half-time when another dangerous delivery from Cathal McGeever was bundled over the line by Darren McGeever. Glenea started the second half strong and wasted no time adding to the goal tally when Blake Mc Garvey finished well after a defensive mix-up. Catherines weren’t ready to give up just yet and responded immediately with a goal of their own. Glenea got their fifth on the 90th minute, and Blake Mc Garvey completed his hat-trick. Catherine’s again responded, but time was up for any more action, giving the home side a 5-3 victory and a valuable three points. Best for Glenea were Cathal McGeever and Blake McGarvey. Referee: Mick Lagan.

Milford United 2-2 Swilly Rovers

A share of the spoils was the outcome of this local Derby reversed to Swilly Park. Swilly went into the game minus several regulars from their normal starting line-up. It was nil-nil at half-time in a hard-fought contest. Joey Cullen, with a fine effort and Kyle Black against his former club had Milford in command at the beginning of the second half. Swilly continued to battle with midfielder Matthew McKinnon pulling the strings and bossing the midfield sector. Michael Kerr with a coolly placed penalty, gave Swilly hope. Corey Oliver with a wonderful strike levelled matters on 80 minutes. No further goals with the draw fair in the end. Referee: Damien McFadden.

Ulster Junior Cup

Ballybofey United 2-3 Buncrana Hearts

Ballybofey United hosted Buncrana Hearts from the Inishowen Football League in the Ulster Junior Cup on Sunday at Dreenan. The home side were good value for their 2-0 half-time lead as they were a decent match for their former USL opponents over the opening piece. Daithi Mc Mahon got both of the Ballybofey goals while Sean McGowan was influential in the proceedings.

The second half was somewhat different as the Buncrana-based outfit showed their experience of life among the higher ranks. A penalty gave them a launchpad to work from in the early exchanges after the break. By the 75th minute-mark, they were level. Neither side would have fancied extra-time or penalties, and both played to win it in regulation. That bit of additional know-how stood to the Cranasiders as time ran out and they found a winning goal in the last minute of the game. Well done to both sides for providing an enjoyable Cup Match.

Keadue Rovers 0-3 Cockhill Celtic

Cockhill Celtic advanced to the quarter finals of the Ulster Junior Cup with this win over a dogged Keadue Rovers outfit at a bitterly cold Central Park on Sunday afternoon.

Keadue started the brighter and launched some good balls into the opposition box with good pace and endeavour. The visitors took the lead though in the third minute, against the run of play. A cross from the left-hand side was met by a header at the near post from Luke Rudden.

Despite this, Keadue played well and battled gamely in midfield with big pace and effort aplenty. Cockhill were content to absorb the pressure and hit on the break, as was often the case throughout the game. They went close again on fourteen minutes when Shane Graham did well with a point-blank save.

On twenty minutes, Keadue were unlucky not to be level when a fine ball played in by Peter McGee was met by Paddy Bonner but he couldn't get the ball down just in time and the ball was gathered by Harry Doherty. On twenty-three minutes, the visitors were awarded what appeared to be an innocuous penalty from a corner set piece, but Keadue got a reprieve when Lee McColgan's effort was hit over the crossbar.

However, Cockhill were not long in getting their 2nd goal after twenty-five minutes, when Corey McBride was through on a defensive lapse and rounded Shane Graham for 2-0. Michael Greene and Aidan Brennan had half chances for Keadue soon after that and could be certainly considered unlucky not to have got at least a goal back. Cockhill again could've added to their tally as they broke once again at great speed.

Jay Bradley and Conor Graham were influential in the visitors’ midfield, and it was a good, open first half despite the difficult conditions. Keadue made a sub at the start of the second half but it was Cockhill, with the breeze behind them, who made the better start and on fifty-two minutes, Luke Ruudden was on hand to give Cockhill a 3-0 lead.

The visitors had further chances through Damien Duffy, who shot over on the hour and Conor Graham hit the post on sixty-four minutes. A minute later, sub-Oran Fallon was close with a Keadue effort. The remainder of the game was scrappy, with Keadue battling away very well and started to create a few openings on the edge of the box but just couldn't get in behind a well-marshalled visiting defence.

Cockhill advance to the Ulster Cup quarter finals and the best for them were Luke Rudden, Conor Graham, Jay Bradley and Peter Doherty, while best for Keadue were Michael Greene, Adam McCaffrey and Brian Proctor.

Referee: Vincent McLaughlin.
