Letterkenny Rovers FC is set to mark a significant milestone at Leckview Park this Saturday with the inauguration of their new floodlights.

The official ceremony, scheduled for 7pm, will be attended by Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys.

In tribute to the late Liam Blake, former Club President and founding member of Letterkenny Rovers, a memorial match will follow the event.

Blake, who passed away in July 2022, played a pivotal role in the club’s history as a player, groundskeeper, and leader within the community.

He was club president of Letterkenny Rovers and few were prouder when his team ran out at the Aviva Stadium for the final of the FAI Intermediate Cup back in 2016.

From his early days as a formidable player to winning consecutive Donegal League titles as a manager alongside Dessie Kelly in 1981 and 1982, to his outstanding work as a groundsman at Leckview Park, Liam served the club with absolute distinction over so many years and in so many roles.

The commemorative match will see a Blake Family Select team face off against Club Coaches, with refreshments afterward at Blake’s Bar.
