Donegal native and Derry City player Sean Patton slotted home an 82nd minute goal for the Ireland U-19s this afternoon as Tom Mohan’s side overcame Slovakia on a 3-1 scoreline at the MOL Academy in Dunajská Streda.

The Drumkeen man signed a pro contract with Derry in August 2022 and after impressing with the U19s he was called into the senior squad at the Brandywell last season.

Of the 22 players on the U-19 squad, 13 are currently with League of Ireland clubs.

And with Ireland eliminated from this summer’s European Championships, Mohan is already building for next season’s campaign.

Slovakia took the lead on the 11th minute with Jakub Murko slotting home to make it 1-0 for the home side.

But the Ireland U-19 side responded Killian Cailloce, Freddie Umeh and Patton all landing their names on the scoresheet to see out a 3-1 win.
