Ronan Boyce tries to rally the troops having pulled a goal back for Derry City against Bohemians
Ronan Boyce was the Derry City goalscorer, although it wasn't enough to prevent a first defeat in the SSE Airtricity League Premier Division for the Candystripes at Bohemians.
At 2-0 down, the Ramelton native pulled a goal back at Dalymount Park, with a rocket from 20 yards with 11 minutes to play - but the home side held on to win 2-1.
James Akintunde, the former Derry striker, scored what proved to be the winning goal, finishing from close range on 77 minutes to give the managerless Bohemians the three points. They had opened the scoring on the half-hour mark when Sam Todd under-hit a backpass, which put Dayle Rooney through on goal to sweep past Brian Maher.
Bohemians director of football Pat Fenlon took interim charge of the first-team following their parting of ways with Declan Devine last week. The results leaves Derry in second place in the Premier Division, five points behind early pace-setters Shelbourne, who continued their fine form with a 2-1 victory at St Patrick's Athletic.
