The vehicles were all detected within a few hours of each other on Sunday morning
Gardaí in Donegal are appealing to motorists to please slow down after five vehicles were detected travelling at 130km/h to 140km/h in a short space of time.
A spokesperson took to Facebook on Sunday morning, August 17 to say: "The sun is out and we understand that you want to get out there to enjoy it while it lasts but we urge all drivers to slow down.
"The roads are likely to be busier than usual today because of the beautiful weather and we want everyone to get to their destination and back home again safely later.
"Letterkenny Roads Policing Unit have detected five vehicles being driven in excess of the legal speed limit of 100km/h this morning. They were all detected travelling between 130km/h and 140km/h. Each driver will have to pay a fine of €160 euro and they will each receive three penalty points.
"Enjoy the sunshine but please ease off the throttle to ensure that you and all other road users are kept safe."
