The note from an 'embarrassed' Connacht Rugby supporter.

A jeweller in Castlebar has been left stunned after receiving a letter of apology from an embarrassed rugby fan, the Mayo News has reported.

The man had attended the Connacht versus Munster match in Hastings Insurance MacHale Park in the Mayo town. Apparently, for whatever reason, he did not feel well passing through town afterwards and was sick in a jeweller's doorway.

Peter Sheridan from 'Rings & Things Castlebar' commented: "My initial reaction to the mess was a little like 'here we go again', it’s not that uncommon, especially after major events and indeed the rugby match was in this category."

But Sheridan received a surprise a few days afterwards. A card with a little message and a 20 Euro note.

"I am writing on behalf of a friend of mine who attended the rugby match at the weekend. He a little accident in your doorway and he asked me  to drop a note of apology to you and to give a little token. He is really embarrassed and had such a good time in Castlebar. He definitely will be back back."

The message is signed off with 'From a proud rugby supporter from Connacht'.

Sheridan's reaction to the apology; "Wow this is lovely, really thoughtful, and just made me feel good to think that there are such great people out there, in this case a proud Connaught rugby supporter."

Sheridan sent a copy of the note to the President of Connacht Rugby, Jimmy Staunton, as he felt it was merited.
