Uisce Éireann says the works are part of continued investment in the local water network and are to help reduce the risk of bursts, improve water quality, and deliver a more reliable water supply for homes and businesses in the area.

A planned overnight water outage will affect parts of east Donegal on Tuesday and Wednesday this week.

The outage is  part of ongoing works to upgrade the water network in the area.

Uisce Éireann is replacing more than 700 metres of ageing water mains along the N15 from McClay’s Corner to the Admiral Park junction in Stranorlar.

Uisce Éireann says the works are part of continued investment in the local water network and are to help reduce the risk of bursts, improve water quality, and deliver a more reliable water supply for homes and businesses in the area.

The utility says that to facilitate a new connection as part of these upgrade works, a planned outage will take place in Stranorlar, Ballybofey, Drumkeen, Convoy, Raphoe, Killygordon, Castlefinn and surrounding areas.

Customers in these areas  may experience a temporary disruption to water supply from 5pm on Tuesday,  April 28 l until 3pm on Wednesday, April 29 while works are underway.

Uisce Éireann’s Patricia Lowry said: “These works represent an important step in upgrading the existing water network and will support a more resilient and reliable water supply for the Stranorlar and wider East Donegal area. We recognise that any interruption to supply can be inconvenient, and every effort will be made to complete the works as quickly and safely as possible. We would like to thank customers for their patience and co‑operation while these essential upgrades are carried out.”

As the water supply returns, there may be some increased instances of discoloured water in the short-term. For helpful tips on what to do following an outage, visit https://www.water.ie/help/supply/after-an-outage/.
