The minister Rural and Community Development and Social Protection performed the official opening during a two-day visit to Donegal

Minister for Rural and Community Development and Social Protection, Heather Humphreys, marked a significant milestone for Donegal Local Development CLG's (DLDC).

On Tuesday, June 6  the minister officially opened DLDC’s  new office in Letterkenny.

The new premises, located in Glenview Business Park in the Carnamuggagh area of the town will serve as the head office for DLDC's programmes in its catchment area.

Minister Humphreys expressed her support for the project, saying: “I am delighted to be here with you this evening in Letterkenny and to have this opportunity to open this wonderful new premises here in Glen View Business Park in partnership with the Donegal Local Development Company.

“I’d like to start by acknowledging and thanking you and your staff for your tireless work in supporting people and communities throughout Donegal for over 25 years.

“Community development is at the heart of all the work we do together.

“And it is fantastic to see the networks you have established to provide supports to community and voluntary groups, the Men’s Shed and Women’s Sheds, the Social Enterprise Network and the Community Garden Network to name but a few.

“Community development is all about supporting and empowering communities to overcome challenges and realise their vision for their area.

“And I have to say this is evident in abundance here in Donegal.”

The office move took place in the early part of 2022 and has allowed DDLC to consolidate its three previous Letterkenny office premises under one roof. This strategic move reflects DLDC’s commitment to collaborating across programmes, strengthening community partnerships and offering wraparound supports to the individuals and communities it supports.

Padraic Fingleton, CEO of DLDC, said the opening of the new office in Letterkenny represented an important step forward for the organisation .

“This move allows us to consolidate our resources, collaborate more effectively, and offer comprehensive support to individuals and communities across our catchment area,” he said.

“We are excited to leverage this new office as a hub for strengthening partnerships, expanding our impact, and creating opportunities for growth.”

Chairperson of DLDC Patsy McGonagle added: "On behalf of the Board of Directors, I want to extend my gratitude to the team at DLDC for their efforts in successfully driving through the office move.

“Consolidating our Letterkenny premises into one central location demonstrates our commitment to efficiency, collaboration, and providing enhanced support to the communities we support.
