Two Donegal athletes have been selected to represent Ireland at the U17 Scottish Championships later this month.

Letterkenny AC’s Harry McIlwaine and Oisin Gillespie of Rosses AC have been named in the 40-strong Irish team that will compete in Grangemouth from August 22-24.

Sprinter McIlwaine has been impressing this year, winning gold in the 100m in the Tailteann Games in Carlow in June, also adding a silver in the 200m.

The Royal & Prior student also won two medals at the SIAB Track and Field International, winning an individual bronze in the 100m along with a silver in the 4x100m relay.

Rosses AC’s Gillespie has been standing out at National level in the High Jump this year, winning a silver medal at the Under-17 All-Ireland Championships, and he was also part of the Donegal County team that recently secured National Silver medals at the Inter-County League Finals.
