Three-time Irish champion Roisin Hegarty has been confirmed on the Irish squad for the 2024 European School Championships.

The Illies Golden Gloves boxer, a native of Letterkenny, will be Ireland's 60kg representative in Banja Luka, Bosnia & Herzegovina.

The Championships, the 21st iteration of this tournament, will take place from August 1-10.

Hegarty is one of 29 boxers confirmed on the Irish team which will be under the charge of team managers Stephen Connolly and Jennifer O’Sullivan Coffey.

Last month, Hegarty won the National Junior Cadet title at 60kgs when beating Olivia Farrell from St Brigid's, Edenderry.

Hegarty claimed a narrow 3-2 split decision to take the title.

Hegarty won her first national title in 2023, claiming the Girl 1 51kgs honours.

Her latest victory is her second Irish title of 2024. In April, Hegarty blitzed an emphatic trail to taking the Girl 2 57kgs title, stopping Rihlee May Cox from Sligo in the final.

At the 2023 2023 European School Championships in Slovenia, Ireland won three gold, one silver and seven bronze medal.
