Roy Keane
In the latest episode of the Sky Sports podcast, 'Stick to Football' a podcast which Roy Keane co hosts with other former soccer legends such as Ian Wright, Gary Neville, and Jill Scott, the crew were talking about the best live sporting events and Roy had to mention the hurling.
Roy said, "Sorry now, last one, talking about sporting occasions, a hurling game in Ireland, the All Ireland Final. Live sport. Brilliant."
Gary Neville then goes on to talk about the time he got to play hurling in Croke Park. "He (Roy) was actually very good." Keane then replies "I wouldn't go that far now Nev. Obviously, I played when I was a kid."
He then goes on to explain the sport to colleague and former Arsenal man Ian Wright. "Speed, high scoring. These guys are amateurs."
Gary Neville then marvels at the size of the hurlers. "Built like a tank, think like a goalkeeper frame, centre half goalkeeper type frame. Massive" as Roy simply replies "Some boys yeah."
They then go on to talk about their meetings with legends of the game such as T.J Reid and Jimmy Barry Murphy.
