Letterkenny AC athlete Ciaran McGonagle won the 100km Irish Athletics National Championships

Letterkenny Athletic Club’s Ciaran McGonagle who was named Athletics Ireland’s Ultra Runner of the Year at the 123.ie National Athletics Awards in November 2023 has won the 100km Irish Athletics National Championships, setting a new 100km national record time of 6:50.28. 

The Burtonport man was selected on an Athletics Ireland team for the Anglo Celtic Plate 100k back in January which took place at the weekend in Perth, Scotland.

In last year’s Anglo Celtic Plate, he was seventh when he clocked in at 6:57.32 for the 100k.

The Donegal man also ran the Frankfurt Marathon in 2:33:27 last October.

As well as that, McGonagle finished third in the M45 category at the Irish and British Masters Cross Country in Glasgow back in November, when the team won silver.
