Ciaran McMonagle competes in the colours of Letterkenny AC
Letterkenny AC’s Ciaran McGonagle has been selected on an Athletics Ireland team for the Anglo Celtic Plate 100k.
The event takes place in March in Perth, Scotland.
McGonagle, a native of Burtonport, is a part of the Irish team for the event, which will also incorporate the 100k national championships.
At the British and Irish Masters Cross Country in late 2023, McGonagle was the M45 bronze medallist and his run helped take the Irish team to silver medals. McGonagle in third was backed up by Maurice McMahon, David Kirwan and John Dunne.
At the 123.ie National Athletics Awards in November, McGonagle was named as the Ultra Runner of the Year.
In last year’s Anglo Celtic Plate, he was seventh when clocking six hours, 57 minutes and 32 seconds for the 100k, while also ran the Frankfurt Marathon in 2:33:27 in October.
