Killian Gribben top scored on Tuesday for Ireland
Killian Gribben was the star turn on Tuesday evening as Ireland defeated Slovakia at the FIBA U20 European Championships.
Gribbin helped himself to 20 points as Ireland overcame Slovakia 78-68 in a dramatic group stage clash in Skopje.
The 20-year-old Letterkenny man moved to Sienna College in the United States last summer and is back on the international stage having helped Ireland to a ninth-place finish 12 months ago.
Ireland lost their opening group games to Bulgaria (95-38) and Czech Republic (82-44), but they hit back in style on Tuesday at the Boris Trajkovski Sports Center.
Gribben, who stands at 6’8”, top scored for Ireland and also weighed in with six assists and six blocks.
Across the three games, Gribben has bagged 30 points for the Irish side.
Ireland were due to face the hosts, North Macedonia, on Wednesday evening.
