Mark English finished seventh in the men’s 800m at the Diamond League in Doha on Friday evening.
The Finn Valley AC runner finished in a time of 1:48.56.
English opened his outdoor season in the Qatari capital with an outing at the first meet of the 2023 Wanda Diamond League.
At the Suheim bin Hamad Stadium, English was towards the back of the field for the opening 400m.
The Letterkenny man finished well in the ten-man race, which was won by Algerian Slimane Moula in 1:46.06.
Kenya’s Wyclife Kinyamal Kisasy was second in 1:46.61 with Djamal Sedjati from Algeria third in 1:46.97.
Earlier this year, English had to withdraw from the European Indoor Athletics Championships, but later in 2023 will target the World Athletics Championships in Budapest.
English is trained by Feidhlim Kelly at Dublin Track Club and has taken a break from his career as a medical doctor to concentrate on his sport with the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris looming on the horizon.
