Jack Boyle (Dunfanaghy BC) has his hand raised
Jack Boyle led the way for a Dunfanaghy Boxing Club hat-trick at the Ulster Boy/Girl 4-7 Championship finals on Sunday.
At the 2000 Centre in Newtownstewart, Boyle blitzed his way to a first round stoppage with Luke Kelly and Conor Durning also claiming wins in the ring for Dunfanaghy who will have four boxers head for the National Championships with Nanci McMonagle having got a walkover win at the weekend.
Boyle stopped Harvey King from Virginia in the Boy 4 70kgs final.
Boyle was an emphatic winner, the bout waved off in the opening round.
Kelly stopped Callum Corrigan in the Boy 5 63kgs final, this one halted in the second stanza.
Durning made it a treble for the Dunfanaghy club. Durning claimed the Boy 6 57kgs crown thanks to a 4-1 split decision win against D-Box's Jake Daly.
Caoimhin Connolly of Twin Towns defeated Emmet McGurn from Golden Star 5-0 in the Boy 4 44kgs final.
Joey O'Hara doubled up the joy for Twin Towns. After a tight contest with Erne man Darragh Robinson, O'Hara was the victor on a 3-2 split decision.
Raphoe's David Tennyson took a clean sweep from the judges to land the Boy 4 52kgs title at the expense of Killyman's Marcus McDonagh.
St Bridget's lad Fintan Robinson lost out on a narrow 3-2 split decision to Liam Ward from Sacred Heart in the Boy 4 50kgs decider and Ronan Grant, also of St Bridget's, was on the wrong end of a 4-1 split in the Boy 4 60kgs final against Cookstown's Conor Whitehouse.
Raphoe BC's Rian Patton was beaten by Matthew McDonagh (Dukes) in the Boy 5 50kgs final and Oisin Doherty from Carndonagh BC saw his Boy 6 66kgs final against Ross Hamilton stopped in round two in favour of the Dungannon puncher.
Jarlath Foley from Ballyshannon had no joy in the Boy 7 75kgs final, which was won by Ederney's Luke Duncan on a unanimous decision and Ederney's Charlie McNulty overcame Gary McNamara of Dunfanaghy on a 3-2 split in the Boy 5 60kgs final.
There were walkover wins on Sunday for St Bridget's Clonmany's Conan Kearney at Boy 4 66kgs; Letterkenny BC's Charlie Leader in the Boy 7 67kgs category; and Oisin Dobbins of Illies Golden Gloves at Boy 7 86kgs.
Other Donegal boxers to advance via walkovers are: Nanci McMonagle (Dunfanaghy, Girl 4 53kgs); Kerry Browne (Convoy, Girl 4 55kgs); Shay McMonagle (Letterkenny, Boy 5 55kgs); Kieran Cunningham (Boy 5 70kgs); and Letterkenny native Jack Harkin (Oakleaf, Boy 7 54kgs).
The winners advance to the National Championships, which will take place at the National Stadium, getting underway in late April.
