Man in his 40s dies as car and lorry collide in Co Cavan

A man in his 40s has been killed in a collision between a car and lorry in Co Cavan.

The driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene.

Emergency services responded to the incident on the R192 at Corcloughan, Shercock, at 7.30am on Monday.

The driver of the lorry, a man in his 60s, was taken to hospital.

The road was closed for a technical examination by Garda forensic collision investigators and local diversions were put in place.

Gardai are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to come forward.
