A man has appeared in court charged with directing a criminal drugs gang.
Brian Grendon, aged 48, with an address at Greenfort Drive in Clondalkin, appeared before the Criminal Courts of Justice on Monday.
Mr Grendon was charged with directing a criminal organisation in the importation and distribution of control drugs and the money laundering of proceeds from the sale of the drugs on August 1 and September 17 2024.
Sergeant Hugh McInerney told the court that he had been arrested on Sunday night and charged under caution at a garda station in Dublin.
The court heard that Mr Grendon, who appeared wearing a white Tommy Hilfiger hoody, jeans and white runners, made no reply under caution.
His solicitor Wayne Kenny said that his client had been arrested at the airport while entering the country and he had not made an attempt to abscond.
Ms Justice Maire Conneely remanded Mr Grendon in custody at Cloverhill Prison to appear again on Tuesday.
