Woman charged after extradition in relation to fatal 2017 shooting

A woman has appeared in court to face organised crime charges in relation to the murder of Jamie Tighe Ennis.

Mr Ennis, 24, was killed at around 2.20am as he was leaving a pub with friends in Moateview Avenue, Coolock, on October 28, 2017.

Ciara Nolan, from Artane – but with an address in Birmingham, appeared before Judge Treasa Kelly at Court 4 at Dublin’s Central Criminal Court on Thursday morning.

Addressing the court, Detective Sergeant Domhnall O’Connell said Ms Nolan, 46, was arrested on Wednesday at 5.40pm at Dublin Airport after being extradited from the UK.

She was later charged under Section 72 of the Criminal Justice Act with facilitating criminal organisation in the commission of the murder of Jamie Tighe Ennis.

The offences are alleged to have been carried out between October 27-28 2017.

Ms Nolan stood silently in the dock wearing a black puffa jacket and dark brown leggings.

There was no indication of her plea.

There was no application for bail as it can only be granted by the high court, and Ms Nolan is due back in court next Wednesday.

An inquest in January 2018 heard that Mr Ennis had to be identified using fingerprints after he was shot in the head.

Mr Ennis had convictions for assaulting gardai and firearms offences, and had appeared in court in relation to a gun charge.

A black Audi was found burned out at Prospect Hill, Finglas shortly after the shooting.

Gardai say investigations are continuing.
