A 26-year-old man has appeared in court charged with the sexual assault of a girl in Dublin.
The alleged incident took place in Garter Lane, Saggart, on Monday.
The man cannot be named because of the nature of the charge.
At a short hearing before Judge John Brennan at Blanchardstown District Court on Tuesday, Detective Sergeant Sinead Connolly of Clondalkin Garda Station said the accused was charged in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
She told the court the accused replied “I have nothing to say”.
There was no application for bail and legal aid was granted.
The accused was remanded in custody before an appearance at Cloverhill District Court on Wednesday, where the court heard his legal team intends to apply for bail.
An Arabic interpreter was assigned to him ahead of the next court appearance.
