LATEST: Young cyclist (20s) dies following overnight crash in Carlow

No other injuries were reported

A young cyclist has died following a late-night collision with a vehicle in Carlow

Gardaí are now appealing for witnesses to this sad incident, which took place at Kilmeany in Co Carlow on Friday, September 12.

The collision occurred on the N80 at Kilmeany at approximately 11pm.

The cyclist, a man aged in his 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was transferred to the mortuary in Waterford University Hospital where a post-mortem examination will be arranged.

No other injuries were reported.

The road has been closed between the Tinryland junction and the M9 for an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.

Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area between 10:45pm and 11:10pm on Friday, September 12 are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
