Gardaí have confirmed that the search operation for the missing rock climber in Baltimore, County Cork has been stood down following the recovery of a body.

A spokesperson for An Garda Síochána said that a body was recovered on Friday morning, 5 September. The body has since been removed from the scene.

They added that the local Coroner has been notified and a post-mortem examination will be arranged in due course.

A multi-agency search operation, including two Coast Guard helicopters, was launched on Thursday for the man aged in his 20s after he was reported missing in the Baltimore area of Cork.
