Following complaints from the locals in Mayo regarding motorists speeding through the village, Gardai carried out a speed check

Suspected drunk driver caught using 'incorrect documentation' was disqualified from the roads

This driver now faces a court date for driving while disqualified

Following complaints from the locals of Bonniconlon in Co Mayo, regarding motorists speeding through the village, Gardaí from the Mayo Roads Policing Unit carried out a speed check this week.
Whilst out patrolling, Gardai detected a red van with the incorrect documentation on the windscreen. After a check on the Garda Mobility App, the driver of the vehicle was found to be currently serving a disqualification from driving.
The motorist was then subjected to a breath test to check if there was alcohol in his breath. The driver also failed this test and was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving.
A spokesperson for An Garda Síochána in Mayo said, "This driver now faces a court date for driving while disqualified and potentially drunk driving offence pending results of test."
