Gardaí appeal for witnesses after second serious road traffic collision in Kildare in one night

Gardaí have appealed for witnesses following a serious road traffic collision in Athy, County Kildare on Thursday night, 5 June which left two young men in their 20s in hospital.

Gardaí and emergency services responded to the collision involving a car and two motorcycles on the R415 at Boley Little in Athy shortly after 7.30pm.

One of the motorcyclists was brought to Tallaght University Hospital to be treated for serious injuries. The second motorcyclist was taken to the Midland Regional Hospital Portlaoise for injuries which are believed to be non life-threatening. 

Gardaí have said there have been no other injuries reported.

The Garda Forensic Collision Investigators are conducting an examination of the scene and so the road is currently closed. Local diversions are currently in place. 

Gardaí have appealed for any witnesses to the collision to come forward. Anyone who may have camera or dash-cam footage and were travelling in the area between 7.15pm and 7.45pm are asked to make the footage available to gardaí.
