Nine people have been injured after a Milan-bound Ryanair flight was forced to make an emergency landing in Germany due to intense turbulence.
The FR8 flight, which had departed rom Berlin, safely landed in Memmingen Airport on Wednesday evening, the airline has confirmed. On board, there were 179 passengers and six crew members.
It is understood that nine people, eight passengers and one crew member, were injured during the air turbulence, with the ages ranging from 2 to 59. None of the injuries are believed to be serious.

According to Bavaria police and German news outlets, one woman sustained a head injury while her two-year-old child was subject to bruises. A 59-year-old woman also complained of back pain.
All three are being treated in hospital while other injuries were treated on site.
Commenting on the incident, a spokesperson for Ryanair said, "The captain called ahead for medical assistance and the aircraft landed normally. To get passengers to their final destination as quickly as possible, we arranged for alternative transport from Memmingen to Milan that night, as well as a replacement flight this (Thursday) morning."
The spokesperson said Ryanair wished to "sincerely apologise" to passengers who were affected by the diversion.
