A man is being questioned by gardai following a stabbing incident close to Dublin city centre in which another man sustained serious injuries.
Gardaí say they attended the scene following reports of a serious assault that occurred close to Rosie Hackett Bridge, Eden Quay, Dublin 1, at approximately 4.30pm on Monday.

Following the incident, the victim was taken to the Mater Misericordiae Hospital for treatment of what are described as serious injuries.

"A man, aged in his 30s, was subsequently arrested and is detained pursuant to Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at a Garda Station in the Dublin city area," said a garda spokesperson who added that the scene was preserved for a technical examination.
