Recently Ireland AM host Muireann O'Connell has been sharing news about her becoming a homeowner to her Instagram account.

The popular TV host sounded shocked to learn about the original wooden floorboards under the carpet located in one of the bedrooms of her new home.

She shared the video to her Instagram account and started off by saying that "The housemate didn't want me ripping up the carpets but we're ripping up the carpets."

She then sounding shocked about her discovery in the next slide says "Oh my God guys, there's original wooden floorboards, we're in the bedroom." Before letting out a huge gasp.

She then says sounding amazed "Look at them!" She then leaves the Instagram story with a pool asking her social media followers whether she should go with the newly found floorboards or the carpet that was already down.

All this comes after she recently announced her new home after a process of house hunting that she described as a "slog."

Muireann thanked the previous owners and everyone who supported them during the process, adding: "We've been terrible at this process. God, house buying has been a slog. I know it's not easy.

Muireann admitted the whole process had been far from straightforward.

"For anyone going through it, much love. It can be soul destroying. But bloody hell do I feel good today."
