Gardaí catch driver travelling over 80km above speed limit over May Bank Holiday weekend
Gardaí in Kilkenny detected a driver travelling over 181km/h in a 100km/h zone in Kilkenny on Monday.
In a post shared on social media, the gardaí said that they were carrying out routine speed checks as part of the Bank Holiday Road Safety Operation on the N25 in Ballynamona when they spotted the car travelling the insane speed.
They confirmed that the car was stopped soon after being detected and the driver was arrested. The driver will also appear in court soon.

Over 3,000 drivers were detected exceeding speed limits throughout the weekend as part of the extensive Bank Holiday Road Safety Operation across the country.
Meanwhile, 187 people were arrested for driving under the influence of an intoxicant this weekend, 147 vehicles were seized from unaccompanied learner drivers, and 444 cars were seized for having no tax or insurance.
