Upon registering, a polling card will be sent to your home. 

Time moves fast when a General Election is near, and this Tuesday, November 12, is your final chance to register to vote at the end of this month. 

Registering to vote is not as hard as it sounds. In fact, it is quick, simple and easy, with all steps now being online. 

In order to register to vote, you can click here, where you will be asked to select the local authority area in which you live.

Then, you fill in your PPSN details (this information can be found on payslips, public service cards, GP visit/medical card, European Health Insurance card, Drugs Payment Scheme card or in letters from the Department of Social Protection or Revenue). 

Following these steps, the rest of the process is straightforward as you just have to give your date of birth, first and second name, nationality, home address, contact number, and email address. 

Upon registering, a polling card will be sent to your home.

In order to vote in the upcoming General Election, set to take place on Friday, November 29,you must be an Irish or British citizen, be at least 18 years old on polling day, and ordinarily resident in Ireland

You must also feature on the Register of Electors, which you can check here

The deadline to apply for postal and special votes has now passed.

On the day of the voting, polling stations will be open from 7am to 10pm. A polling card is not required to vote but voters may be asked for identification, so make sure you bring some along.

Please remember,  it is an offence to reveal the content of your ballot in the polling station as it may reveal the identity of the voter and could result in the vote being deemed invalid. 

In order for your vote to count, write your preferences clearly and concisely to avoid any confusion.
