The Europa League final will be played in the Aviva Stadium
Catherine Martin Minister for Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media and Thomas Byrne TD, Minister of State for Sport, Physical Education and the Gaeltacht, have taken the opportunity to welcome the teams and supporters of Bayer 04 Leverkusen of Germany and Italian side Atalanta BC, to Dublin this week.
Dublin was selected to host the UEFA Europa League Final 2024, which takes place on Wednesday, 22 May, with an 8pm kick-off. The UEFA Europa League Final is the culmination of one of the most prestigious club competitions in football and promises to be a competitive game of football and a great spectacle for all to enjoy.
The Department is pleased to have supported the hosting of this event along with partners in UEFA, the FAI, Dublin City Council, An Garda Síochána, Dublin Airport, the National Transport Authority and more.
Following the announcement in October by UEFA that Ireland and UK had succeeded in its joint bid to host EURO 2028, this event provides a wonderful opportunity for the host stadium, and our capital city, to showcase our ability to host high profile sporting events
Minister Catherine Martin, said “I welcome UEFA and the Europa League Final to Dublin for what I am sure will be a fantastic sporting spectacle and one that will be of great benefit to Ireland.
"I look forward to such a high profile event encouraging participation in sport among the young and all ages. With Bayer Leverkusen as yet unbeaten in a historic season, and Atalanta competing at the top of Serie A, it looks set to be an enthralling spectacle for all fans of football.”
Minister Thomas Byrne, said "As Ireland looks forward to co-hosting EURO 2028 with the UK, it is wonderful to see our capital city showcased this year, with our hosting of the UEFA Europa League Final.
"In order for Ireland to both attract and ensure the success of major international sporting events, significant work and preparation over many years is undertaken.
"I am glad to note the support and role of the Government of Ireland, Dublin City Council, state agencies and authorities, in making Dublin’s hosting of the UEFA Europa League Final a reality. I hope all football fans, both at home and abroad, enjoy this exciting final.”
