Gardaí confirmed that a woman and two children have sadly lost their lives in a fatal road traffic collision in Mayo
A woman and two young girls have been confirmed dead after a horror crash in Co Mayo.
Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of the fatal road traffic collision shortly before 2pm, this afternoon, Tuesday, 26th March, 2024.
The collision, between a lorry and a car, occurred on the N17 in Castlegar, outside of Claremorris, Co.Mayo.
The driver, a woman, and two girls who were passengers in the car, were fatally injured.
No other injuries have been reported.
The road remains closed at this time and traffic diversions are in place. Garda Forensic Collision Investigators will conduct an examination of the scene, Gardaí have said.
Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.
Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.
