The funeral of a young boy who passed away following a road collision in Co Clare is due to take place in Shannon today.

Dylan Coady-Coleman, 10, from Shannon, Co Clare, passed away three days after being struck by a van.

Dylan sustained serious injuries in the collision, which happened on Sunday, February 25, and was subsequently pronounced dead in Temple Street Children's Hospital, Dublin on Wednesday morning, February 28.

Just a day following Dylan’s fatal accident, his parents Garry and Laura welcomed a baby boy on Tuesday, February 27, at the Rotunda Hospital.

Baby Shane Coady Coleman has been given the middle name Dylan, after his big brother whom he got to meet before he passed away.

Dylan's funeral Mass will take place in Mary Immaculate Church, Shannon today at 1.30pm followed by burial afterwards in Illaunmanagh Cemetery.

His family have requested that those attending the funeral wear jersey tops and odd socks, as Dylan had a passion for sport.

An avid supporter of Liverpool FC, Shannon Town FC as well as Munster and Ireland Rugby, Dylan was a member of Shannon Kickboxing Club and also played for Shannon Town Utd AFC.

Dylan bravely donated his organs on February 29 and will be deeply missed by his heartbroken family and his many friends and classmates in St Tola's school, Shannon.
