Many people across the country are expected to make do without electricity tonight as ESB crews work through the night to restore power.
According to ESB Networks, many customers will not have power overnight while some will have to do without for a number of days due to the aftermath of Storm Isha.
The storm, which has battered the country for the past several days, caused "major damage to the electricity network", with crews across the country continuing to work to safely restore power.
Although power has been restored for almost 170,000 impacted customers, some 68,000 homes, farms and businesses remain without electricity this evening as of 8.45pm.
The ESB is urging people to stay clear of fallen electricity wires as the ongoing clean-up and restoration work continues, and to report any damage to the network by calling 1800 372 999.
In an update shared on ESBNetworks.ie, they stated: "If you come across fallen wires or damaged electricity network, never, ever touch or approach these as they may be LIVE and extremely dangerous."
Any customers who want to stay up to date on estimated restoration times can do so by checking Powercheck.ie and ESBNetworks.ie.
