Man shot in Dublin restaurant on Christmas Eve dies in hospital

A man shot in a Dublin restaurant on Christmas Eve has died in hospital.

Jason Hennessy Snr, who was in his late 40s, sustained multiple gunshot wounds in the shooting at Browne’s Steakhouse in Blanchardstown.

Mr Hennessy, who was well known to gardai, was initially treated in Dublin’s Connolly Hospital but had been transferred to the city’s Mater Hospital, where he died.

On the night of the attack two gunmen entered the busy restaurant at about 8pm and opened fire.

One of the suspected gunmen, Tristan Sherry, sustained fatal injuries after being tackled and assaulted inside the premises after the shooting.

Last week Michael Andrecut, 22, of Sheephill Avenue, Corduff, appeared at a special sitting of the Criminal Courts of Justice in Dublin charged with Mr Sherry’s murder.

Two other men have been arrested for questioning in connection with Mr Sherry’s death.

On Thursday they were still being held at Garda stations in west Dublin under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

A second murder investigation has now been launched after Mr Hennessy’s death.
